Who is Eric Cortes you ask? I currently serve as Senior Manager, Social Media & Digital Engagement at the American Diabetes Association (Association). I coordinate the Association's national social media strategy, from planning content to monitoring engagement to conducting analysis and keeping us abreast of current trends. I also help the Association further connect with social following and key influencers in the diabetes space, as well as provide social media guidance to other stakeholders and the Association’s local offices.
I recently moved to the D.C area from New Jersey, where I had managed social media for the Atlantic City Alliance since 2012. My work experience also includes marketing & promotions for WWSI Telemundo Philadelphia and media relations for the Visit Philadelphia (formerly GPTMC). My first job was with Taller Puertorroqueño, Inc.
In 2010, I was named one of the “Delaware Valley’s Most Influential Latinos,” an event produced by the Philadelphia Multicultural Affairs Congress and Impacto Latin Newspaper, and in 2011, I took home the Hispanic Professional of the Year Award, one of three Excelencia Hispanic Business Awards distributed annually by the Greater Philadelphia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
I graduated from Temple University with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and also graduated from St. Joseph's University's Master of Arts Writing Studies Program.
